Indirect Tax Implications

For organizations doing business overseas, it’s important to consider VAT, GST, and other transactional tax rules when doing business in the cloud. However, survey results reveal that much progress still needs to be made when considering the implications of indirect tax.

Key Highlights

  • 76 percent of survey respondents do not have a Cloud VAT policy.
  • 61 percent say their company owns the servers directly or through foreign affiliates for usage of cloud technologies outside the U.S.
  • 49 percent of U.S.-based cloud service providers view indirect tax as a concern but have not yet addressed the issue.
  • 44 percent believe Europe poses the biggest concern from a VAT perspective.
